VR Showroom Launched with MC Palma

V360 Marine have developed an industry first with their Virtual Reality showroom for MC Palma, a state-of-the-art exhibition centre in Palma de Mallorca which also offers an interactive space for marine focused companies to showcase their products and services. Ben Vickers, Co-founder of MC Palma, explained “our focus is customer engagement, providing a modern space for our clients to showcase their products and services surrounded by complimentary brands. When we spoke with V360 Marine and they mentioned recreating our facility in VR it sounded a bit too good to be true, but the results are better than we could have imagined, and the potential applications are endless”.

The idea was to create an identical exhibition space which clients can access either via mobile device, laptop or PC. They have full freedom to explore and interact with the products, link to company websites and promotional material and even configure products in situ, for example an illuminated boat name, digitally created and showcased on a superyacht.

Sam Slater, CEO at V360 Marine added “this was a really exciting project for us because we’re breaking completely new ground with this application – even to the point where we were supporting Amazon in developing their technology to allow us to live stream via their web service”

The application will be officially launched at the MC Palma networking event on 6th Feb 2019. V360 Marine CTO, Rick said “this launch will be real test of the technology. It is really new and virtually un-tested, but we are confident it will run smoothly. We have run extensive global tests in partnership with Amazon and even had a tester sat in a bar in Santander live streaming the service to another in Columbia. Although we are a little way off being able to teleport a beer the VR Showroom ran perfectly.”

Russell Whitworth, MC Palma Co-founder added “the real beauty of this system is that it isn’t bound by physical things such as floor space, weather or location. Our clients can visit our showroom from the comfort of their own home and our clients can have concessions of endless size with any number of products with cleaver interactive functions such as colour matching, configuration or brand marketing. We can link products to a shopping basket for online purchases and integrate the normal ecommerce benefits with the ability to remotely explore and operate products as if they were here in the showroom.”

Sam Slater continued “there has been a real move towards the online virtual shopping experience or VCommerce as its known. This coupled with the application of other immersive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) makes this the obvious next step in retail and we’re proud to be at the forefront. It really helps working with a client with a strong vision of the future like the team at MC Palma and we’re looking forward to seeing how the yachting industry reacts”
